A change to this document has been announced. According to the Government of Canada, the effect of the changes is notably to (1) "clarify that any laboratory analysis [...] must be performed by a laboratory that meets a set of [accreditation] criteria at the time that the analysis or determination is performed"; (2) require that "where a standard exists for the parameters that are being analyzed or determined [...] [the] parameters [must] be included in the scope of the laboratory's accreditation"; and (3) require that where "no accredited method exists that can be used for a substance [...] the analysis [must] be conducted in accordance with generally accepted standards of scientific practice". The first effective date of the document that makes the change is March 18, 2021. More information about the change, including any additional effective dates, is available here.
