Changes have been made to increase protection of public lands and property from damage. Based on these changes, it is an offence to do certain types of damage to public land and trails; the specific types of damage will be prescribed by regulation. Officers also have more extensive powers to enforce the Act, such as warrantless arrests and the stopping of vehicles, boats, or aircraft. The changes come into force on June 9, 2016.
